Licensed Psychologist

Background

I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a master’s degree in clinical psychology, and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I have extensive experience in both psychotherapy and assessment. There is a quote from Vicktor Frankl that I believe speaks to the science and art of psychology:

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Through evaluations and psychotherapy, we can help people understand themselves in greater depth and obtain understanding as to why they respond the way they do in various situations and with particular people.

An understanding of an individual can be done through assessments and evaluations. I have experience in conducting a multitude of evaluations, such as Parenting Capacity, Act 235, Immigration, Hardship Evaluations, Safety, Police Officer, and Firefighter, as well as Bariatric, Spinal Cord Stimulator, Personality, and Intellectual Functioning Assessments.

Regarding psychotherapy, I am primarily psychodynamic in my theoretical orientation which focuses on unconscious and conscious processes as they are demonstrated in a client’s actions, emotions, and beliefs. A focus in psychodynamic psychotherapy helps the individual become more self-aware and gain insight to oneself. The individual learns to understand oneself through examining the influence of the individual’s history on current functioning, as well as events that have impacted the client’s sense of self and others. I provide psychotherapy for children/adolescents, adults, and couples. Client populations include a variety of mood, anxiety, depression, psychotic, personality and cognitive disorders, as well as eating disorders and trauma.
